Data Engineer

Dataro is an ethically-minded ‘Data Science-as-a-Service’ startup that uses machine learning to help not-for-profits run more successful fundraising campaigns.

Each day, we ingest and transform 100s of millions of rows of data from hundreds of client systems. This data is essential to our predictive modelling and business intelligence products. We’re looking for someone seriously talented to help develop our data systems to handle another order of magnitude of data volume and complexity.

In This Role, You’ll Get To

  • Develop integrations with dozens of different fundraising and adjacent platforms.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that can transform and normalise billions of records from hundreds of source systems every single day.
  • Work on dynamic and complex data transformations that serve performance critical web applications.
  • Investigate issues with and help to improve our data transformation pipelines.
  • Work side-by-side with experienced data scientists and data engineers.

On The First Day, We’ll Expect You To Have

  • Experience with real-world data pipelines including deployment and monitoring.
  • Extremely strong SQL skills.
  • Extremely strong Python skills.
  • Experience with databases, query optimisation, professional software engineering practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

It’s Great, But Not Required, If You Have Experience With

  • The fundraising and non-profit sector
  • Startups
  • AWS (EC2, Batch, Lambda, S3, Athena)
  • DuckDB, AWS Athena
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines
